Abstract

Dental caries is the most common oral disease. Rampant caries often occurs in children, because it has more organic matter and water content while less mineral content and thinner enamel thickness than permanent teeth. This case report discusses the des-cription of rampant caries in children who visit Baiturrahmah Dental Hospital Padang. Clinical examination, supporting examina-tion and treatment and communication, information, education to parents about their children's dental health were carried out. In principle, overcoming behaviour can be done with a friendly approach so that it does not seem that the dentist will hurt. In car-rying out special treatment for rampant caries patients who are generally very young, the impression of pain must be avoided. If rampant caries is not treated immediately, it will have a negative impact on the nutritional status and quality of life of the child. In-fection, decreased appetite, sleep discomfort, impaired immune and endocrine responses, and metabolic failure due to dental caries are factors that cause malnutrition in toddlers.
