Abstract
Epulis is a tumor-like gingival enlargement originating from periodontal connective tissue thought to be caused by chronic irri-tation. Fibromatous epulis that occurs on the anterior teeth will interfere with the aesthetics and function of the lips and reduce self-confidence so it needs to be treated. Short clinical crowns and brownish gingiva are often the patient's complaints. A 22-year-old woman came to the Periodontia Department of Unhas RSGM with complaints of maxillary front gingival enlargement since 1 year ago and felt disturbing, the maxillary teeth looked short and the gingiva was brown which was diagnosed as epulis fibromatosa, gummy smile and gingival hyperpigmentation. Management, with surgical excision of the epulis using a scalpel, crown lengthening using Chu's aesthetic gauge and continued gingival depigmentation using a scalpel. 1-month control showed no malignancy for the epulis, altered passive eruption corrected, and coral pink gingiva. It was concluded that after the patient's complaints were analyzed, the perio-aesthetic surgical treatments that were effective in correcting functional and aesthetic dis-orders were epulis excision, crown lengthening and gingival depigmentation.
