Abstract

Bivalves are natural resources that play a role in Indonesian waters with very strategic geographical conditions, because flank-ed by two oceans and continents so that the exchange of water masses occurs; groups that are often found in Indonesian waters. Shellfish or bivalves are soft-bodied aquatic animals (mollusks). In general, bivalves habitat is found in coastal and brackish waters which have muddy sand to a depth of 4-6 m with relatively calm water conditions. Shellfish can live in an epifaunal way or infaunally for a long period of time. The use offsea shells in dentistry has found that polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) bio-composite can be strengthened with shellfish nano powder with better properties.
