Abstract

Bite marks are a forensic identification method that involves analysing bite marks resulting from trauma to the human body. Bite marks are frequently found in cases of sexual assault, murder, child abuse, and on food remains at crime scenes. However, few victims report these marks due to feelings of shame, psy-chological trauma, fear of being blamed, and a lack of understanding that bite marks can serve as valid legal evidence. This study analysed the accuracy of using a computer-based method for bite mark identification on cheese blocks through quantitative analytical observation using a cross-sectional design, involving 50 samples obtained via purposive sampling. Data were analysed using IBM SPSS version 30.0 and the Kruskal-Wallis statistical test, which indicated good accu-racy, particularly in classifications from class 2 to class 5; characterised by a high number of excellent matches. Statistical tests showed a significant level of accuracy (p=0.000; p<0.05). It was concluded that the use of computer-based methods has a significant level of accuracy for forensic identification.
