Abstract

The use of lip prints in the field of forensic medicine is to compare the lip print data on individuals with lip print patterns found on objects or objects around the scene. However, antemortem data is needed to match the data encountered. This study aims to determine the description and distinctiveness of lip print patterns in preclinical students of class 2020 FKG Baiturrahmah Uni-versity. This descriptive observational study was a total sampling of 96 samples. Lip print patterns were identified based on Su-zuki and Tsuchihashi classification in four quadrants by sampling using lipstick. Data were analysed using Microsoft Excel. The results showed that overall the lip print pattern is dominant type II, while for gender, males are dominant type IV and females are dominant type II. This study also shows the distinctiveness of lip prints, namely the unequal number of grooves in each individual. The highest distinctiveness is located in quadrant 2. It is concluded that the distinctiveness of this lip print pattern can be used as a secondary identification because each individual has a different pattern.
