Prevalence of caries on periapical radiographs at the Radiology Installation of the Hasanuddin University Teaching Dental Hospital Makassar after the Covid-19 pandemic

Abstract
The Covid-19 pandemic has triggered various disturbances, one of which is the dental and oral health service sector because dental and oral health services have a high potential to transmit SARS-Cov-2 during the dental examination process. The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of dental caries in the Radiology Installation of RSGMP Hasanuddin University after the Covid-19 pandemic, by descriptive observation through panoramic and periapical radiographic data from March-September 2022. Data were distributed into tables and graphs. Caries was found mostly in females (61.7%). Based on age, most cases oc-curred in the adolescent group (44.6%), it was found that there were 5 (10.6%) males and 9 (19.1%) females who had class I ca-ries, 12 (25.5%) males and 14 (29.7%) females who had class II caries, 1 (2.1%) male and 3 (6.3%) female who had class III caries. There were no males and 2 (4.2%) females with class IV caries, no males and 1 (2.1%) female with class V caries. It was concluded that the prevalence of caries was found to be most prevalent in females and the majority of females were class II.
