Root resorption is a clinical condition associa-ted with a physiological or pathological process leading to a loss of dentin, cementum and/or bone structure. Root resorption due to orthodontic treatment is a pathological process that causes a shortening of the dental root. It can be caused by many factors such as the mechanics used during orthodontic treatment, factors related to the type and magnitude of the force, and other fac-tors related to treatment such as the type of tooth movement and malocclusion. It needs a, dequate diagnosis to detect any root resorption due to orthodontic treatment. It is concluded that early detection of root resorption can be done during, and/or after active treatment.
