Abstract
This case report aims to describe the treatment of discolored vital teeth and how to minimize the effects of hypersensitivity. In-office bleaching was performed on a 21-year-old female patient with complaints of yellowish teeth. The initial stage was ap-plying the optra gate and bite block, followed by microabrasion using pumice and a brush on the tooth surface before determining the initial color. An astringent is applied to the gingival sulcus area, the teeth to be bleached were dried, a gingival barrier was applied to the gingival margin, and the gingival barrier were light-cured for 20 seconds. The bleaching agent H2O2 40% was ap-plied for 20 minutes. After that, the bleach material is cleaned and the gingival barrier is removed, determined the color of the teeth after bleaching, followed by the application of a desensitizing agent. The brightness of the teeth increased from 2M2 to 1M2. After application of the desensitizing agent, the hypersensitivity decreases. One week later, the hypersensitivity disappear-ed and the tooth color stabilized. It is concluded that in-office bleaching is effective in lightening discolored teeth. The result-ing hypersensitivity can be minimized or even eliminated if it is carried out according to the correct management.
