Oral fibroepithelial polyp: a case series of two patients
Polip fibroepitelial oral: serial kasus dengan dua pasien
Abstract
Fibroepithelial polyp (FEP) are common benign tumours in oral cavity, which are the result of polypoid from the epidermis and dermal vascular fibrous tissue. This condition develops without pain, with clinical features of pink, red or white, sessile and pe-dunculated. Apart from being a hyperplastic inflammatory lesion, FEP is most commonly found in the oral cavity on the buccal mucosa, tongue or gingiva, on the neck, axilla, and in skin folds. This article presents two cases, along with a literature review on oral FEP. Data sources were searched on Pubmed and Google Scholar databases in the form of human case reports. The li-terature review was conducted by looking at information on age, gender, tumor location, duration of enlargement, size, tumor archetype, etiology, treatment, collagen arrangement pattern, follow-up, and recurrence information. It was concluded that FEP cases can be considered as a differential diagnosis in patients with lumps in the oral cavity with biopsy excision treatment.
