Abstract

Dental caries is a tissue damage that starts from the surface of the pit, fissure and interproximal area extending towards the pulp. The purpose of this research was to determine the description of dental caries disease in the Dental Clinic at Palmerah Health Centre on 2019-2021. This study used a retrospective descriptive method from the SIKDA report at the dental clinic. The highest dental caries was recorded in 2019 with 3999 patients (64%), the majority (88%) were more than 15 years old and dominated by female patients (65%). The majority of patient cases were pulp abnormalities, dentinal caries and abscesses. It was concluded that most of the treatments performed were root canal treatment, fixed fillings and premedication. However, the number of treatments was recorded to decrease in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, with most treatments being premedication.
